Essay Contest--for kids!

Anyone familiar with The Magic Tree House? If you know or have kids in the ages 7-12 bracket, you might want to look into this essay contest. Open to US & Canada residents. Winner receives a $5000 tree house from Kids Crooked House (and must have a place to put it). Deadline: October 31, 2010.

The essay question: Jack and Annie travel through space and time in the Magic Tree House to complete the missions for Merlin or Morgan. Write about an adventure you would like to have in the Magic Tree House. Where would you go and what would you do?

Rules and Forms can be downloaded at the Magic Tree House Passport to Adventure page (PDF reader required).

I found out about this contest from The Well-Read Child, which posted the full press release from Random House.

I want a treehouse. Dang. I wonder if I can bribe a kid here on the island to enter for me...

By the way, I was reading the comments on the iron/blood thing over at Moonrat's, saw your comment, and had to search you out since I live on Gabriola Island, BC and figured you must be close by (relatively speaking), if blood would be transported to VI. This comment must look very strange to someone who doesn't know what we're talking about! Haha!

Anyway, hello from your southern neighbour. By the way, I'm originally from Portland and was just down there on my book launch tour and while I didn't get to do an event at Powell's, I did get to go in and sign my books and they put little autographed stickers on them, which, as I'm sure you can imagine, is a pretty cool thing for a Portland native!

cheers,
Joelle
