The Wishmaker by Ali Seth

It's possible that this book would get better, but at page 70, the story is just a kind of meandering stream of characters with a hint of plot, and talking myself into continuing down this stream is taking too much effort.

I'm not saying I'm calling it quits for good on this one--I can see that Sethi has a knack for characters and setting--but it's definitely not to my liking at this point in time. (I've been chiseling away at those 70 pages for months.)

it's always validating to learn that i'm not the only person to struggle with a book.

this book really tormented me. i had such trouble reading it--i would read a few pages...put it down. read a few, put it down. it went on for weeks and i felt terrible. there's nothing inherently flawed with sethi's writing...it was just too much for me.

sorry it didn't work for you either.

I read the synopsis of this book, and decided that it probably wouldn't be something that I would enjoy, so I skipped it. Sorry to hear you had such difficulty with it, it sounds like a frustrating read.
